Har nationalekonomerna alla svar?

Ironically, the existence of formal models based on (this) misconception of human behaviour is what gives economics its reputation as the most powerful of social sciences. ...Economists carry the most sway when it comes to influencing public policy.

Den som fäller detta omdöme om nationalekonomer är ingen mindre än Richard Thaler och han gör det i sin bok “Misbehaving” (På svenska “Beslut och beteenden : att förutsäga det oförutsägbara”). Thaler var tills helt nyligen ordförande i American Economic Association och är en av frontfiguerena inom det som kallas beteendeekonomi (Behvioural economics) och som sådan tippas han som Nobelpriskandidat.

Hans omdöme kommer i minnet när man läser bemötandet av Svante Axelssons förslag att Sverige skulle ta täten i utveckling och användning av ny klimatrelaterad teknik. För avfärdandet, baserat på en tolkning av hur samhället fungerar, kan ifrågasättas. Det görs också av andra ekonomer nämligen de som sysslar med företagsekonomi och industriell ekonomi (Business economics).

Thaler har funderat över det också för han fortsätter omdömet ovan med:
