....the energy union is about big questions, big figures, big interests and big ambitions. It will require many legislative proposals and it will require full support and implementation at all levels. The European Parliament believes in the objectives of the Energy Union, but will assess very carefully the required legislative proposals and the way the Parliament will be involved in the governance of this project that touches upon the key interests of the European Union and its citizens.
Orden är Martin Schulz’s, EU-parlamentets talman, inför toppmötet på torsdagen.
Det är tydligt att idén om energiunionen verkligen gripit tag och gjort många (av oss) högstämda. Men förlåt någon som varit med förr att hälla ett stänk malört i bägaren. Vi har hört det förut om än aldrig så tydligt och från så hög nivå. Men vi har också sett det klinga av tidigare. Hur länge kommer det att sitta i och hur långt kommer man att sträcka sig? Innan till exempel “big interests” samlat sig till motangrepp?
Hoppas att halveringstiden är längre än tidigare. Men….
